Obituary for Donald Rachu

Donald C. Rachu, 86, Marshfield, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. Rev. Barry Saylor and Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield and from 10:00 am until the time of service on Saturday at the church.

Don was born on October 3, 1938 in Unity to Ervin and Evelyn (Kurtzweil) Rachu. He graduated from Colby High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Dunbar on February 11, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.

Don was on the Corpus Christi Church Parish Council and was an honorary Knights of Columbus member. He bowled with Phyllis on the Corpus Christi league. Don loved his John Deere lawn mower and mowing lawn. He rarely missed watching a Brewers game, Packers game, or NASCAR race. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and decorating for the holidays. Most of all, Don loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart. They could always make grandpa smile.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, children: Steve (Ranger) Rachu of Marshfield, Kay (Don) Butler of Marshfield, Kevin (Jodie Gardner) Rachu of Loyal, and Darren (Lynn) Rachu of Auburndale, grandchildren: Jason (Kelly) Butler, Kanyon (Michelle) Rachu, Sayer Rachu, Hilary (Jared) Zemke, and Mason Rachu (Katey Brunton), great grandchildren: Kylie Shaw, Olivia Butler, Luna Zemke, Nova Zemke, Mira Zemke, and Baby Rachu on the way (Kanyon & Michelle), and one great great grandchild on the way (Baby Shaw).

He is further survived by his brother, Ray (Sharon) Rachu, sisters, Sharon Tiege and Gloria Butterfield, brother in law, Ken Jicinsky, and sisters in law, Darlene Rachu and Joyce (Butch) Tyrolt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Evelyn, siblings, Glenn Rachu, Darlene Jicinsky, and William “Billy” Rachu, and brothers in law, Jerry Tiege and Jerry Butterfield.
