Donald “Donnie” Philip Stoltz, age 69 of Stevens Point, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13th, 2022 at the House of the Dove hospice facility in Marshfield.
Donald was the oldest son of Philip and Theresa (Kranski) Stoltz, born February 15th, 1953. After graduating from Pacelli High School in 1971, Don worked in the trades industry, becoming a master plumber and expert mechanic. His career started at Willie Adams Trucking and Excavation, then at Rusin’s Evergreen Excavation—where Donnie could work wonders with Akerman excavators. He then worked for many years at Meyer Services, and finally was a tow truck operator for Adams Towing and Recovery Service until his retirement.
In 1985, Don met his soul mate, Laurie Berger, whom he affectionately called “Marushka,” and they spent 35 wonderful years together until her passing in October 2020. For both of them, Hiles WI was a special place on the map, as Don was very proud of his cottages on Pine Lake. Don had a wealth of knowledge and a reputation for being able to fix anything. In his spare time, he was always working on various projects.
Don will be remembered as a strong, hardworking, and motivated man. A storyteller with a unique sense of humor that we will all remember.
Don is survived by his sister, Mary Olander, sister-in-law Lori Stoltz, nephews Kyle Stoltz (Rachel Fehrman), Nathan Stoltz (Kelsey Leikam), and Ryan Stoltz (Morgan Haase), and his greatnephew Allen Gary Stoltz. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Theresa Stoltz, brother Gary Stoltz, infant brother Patrick Stoltz, brother-in-law Andy Olander, and Laurie Berger, his life partner of 35 years.
The family would like to thank the healthcare workers of Aspirus Hospital – Stevens Point, Marshfield Medical Center – Marshfield, and Compassus House of the Dove Hospice House (Marshfield) for their compassionate care for Donnie throughout the last six months of his life.
A celebration of life for Donnie will be held at a later date.
