Obituary for Dorothy Riedel

Dorothy R. Riedel, 94, Marshfield, entered her eternal rest on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at her residence in the Aster Assisted Living under the care of family and Heartland Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Tim Hinrichs will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dorothy was born at home in Nasonville on November 5, 1927 to William and Clara (Garbisch) Seehafer. She was a graduate of Purdy High School, Marshfield.

She was united in marriage to Clifford R. Riedel on April 21, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church, Nasonville, now Grace Lutheran Church. Cliff passed away on November 17, 2012.

Before her marriage, Dorothy worked at McCains Store in Marshfield. After marriage she and her husband farmed and raised their family and Dorothy was the bookkeeper for her husband.

Dorothy was a devoted and active member of Grace Lutheran Church serving in various capacities including the church altar committee.  She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers and traveling. She and Cliff enjoyed dance and card clubs.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Joan) Riedel, Neil (Paulette) Riedel, all of Marshfield, Julene (Phil) Hannifan of Verona, Scott Riedel of Marshfield, Kevin Riedel of Stratford, and Dean (Cheryl) Riedel of Eden Prairie, MN. She is also survived by grandchildren, Nathan (Erin) Riedel, Christopher (Katie) Riedel, Angela (Randy) Montalvo, Breanna (Justin) VanDeHey, Chelsie (Andy) Rennicke, Lauren (Robert) Bridgman, Ryan Hannifan Kayleigh Hannifan, Mikaela Riedel, and Samuel Riedel and great grandchildren, Branden Montalvo, Alex Montalvo, Trey Montalvo, Evan Rennicke, Owen Rennicke, Avery Rennicke, Claire VanDeHey, Elise VanDeHey  and Kaden Krause Riedel. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Jean Seehafer and Gloria Riedel and brother-in-law, Don (Julie) Riedel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Russell in infancy, a sister Esther Riedel. A brother, Don Seehafer, and brothers-in-law, Lloyd Riedel and Dale Riedel.
