Edward “Ed” W. Maurer, 93, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Wells Nature View in Marshfield.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the American Legion Hall, Marshfield with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am, followed by a prayer service lead by Deacon Ray Draeger and military honors performed by American Legion Post 54 – Marshfield. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ed was born on April 8, 1931 in Marshfield to John Sr. and Hedwig (Yungwirth) Maurer. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1949. Ed married Lois Niemann on October 1, 1953 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bakerville, and they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. She passed away on February 26, 2024.

He worked at Maurer Roofing, owned Spencer Roofing and Insulating, and later was employed at Land O’Lakes in Spencer until his retirement in 1996. Ed enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards, gambling, playing cribbage, and being a part of the Boy Scouts. He was also a member of American Legion – Post 54.

He is survived by his children, Debra (Steven) Steiner of Stratford, Michael Maurer of Marshfield, Mark Maurer of Tomahawk, and Donna (James) Schreiner of Milladore, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Adam Steiner, son-in-law, Michael Wolf, and siblings, Alois “Al” Maurer, Francis “Frank” Maurer, Henry Maurer, Marie Jensen, Wilfred Maurer, John Maurer Jr, and Katherine Pankratz.

Memorials can be designated to American Legion Post 54 Marshfield.
