Eleanor Nikolai, 83, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Marshfield Health Services after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Eleanor was born May 7, 1939 to Ed and Caroline (Wenzel) Nikolai – one of 11 children born on the family farm. She attended St. Andrew’s Grade School and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School. Eleanor worked various jobs in the Central Wisconsin area mostly in the food service area.

Eleanor enjoyed family get-togethers, listening to polka music (especially when her brothers Gene and Len provided the music), and watching and talking Brewers baseball. She loved to decorate her apartment for Christmas and always looked forward to going to see the Rotary Winter Wonderland Christmas lights every year with the Hardinger kids and their families.

Eleanor is survived by her siblings, Ray (Clara) Nikolai, Rose Marie Wittenkeller, Eugene (Becky) Nikolai, Vic Nikolai, Len (Diane) Nikolai, Geri Nikolai and Mary Lou (Don) Hafenbredl; sisters-in-law Teri Nikolai and Jeanette Nikolai as well as nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ed & Caroline Nikolai, sister Carrie Hardinger, brothers Frankie Nikolai and Ted Nikolai and extended family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, where family and friends may gather from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Rozellville. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Eleanor’s name.
