Evelyn A. Matti, 104, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Wells Nature View, 2807 S. Apple Ave.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Tim Matti, Todd Matti, Steve Weis, Derek Matti, Dustin Babcock, and Greg Offer. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Evelyn was born on July 29, 1916, in the Town of Day, Marathon County to Frank and Nora (Reese) Kelnhofer. She worked as a housekeeper until she was united in marriage to Walter Matti on July 12, 1938, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville. She then became a devoted farm wife. Walter passed away on April 19, 1986.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of the St. Andrew’s PCCW, and she helped serve numerous meals. She also worked at the Nutrition Center in Rozellville. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Delores (Klem) Gebelein of Stratford, sons, Melvin (Charmaine) Matti of Stratford and Merlin (Deborah) Matti of Auburndale; grandchildren, Tim (Sherry) Matti, Todd Matti, Heidi (Jeff) Binder, Stacy Buhrow, Steve Weis, Andrew (Jessica) Robinson, Ashley (Jeff) Gau, Brittany (Dain) Wold, and Derrick Matti; 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is further survived by her brother, Anton “Tony” Kelnhofer of Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Michael Matti, and siblings, Eleanor, Marie, Isabel, Loretta, Lawrence, Floyd, Roger, Louis, and son-in-law, John Weis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Wells Nature View and St. Croix Hospice, especially Evelyn’s nurse, Jill, for the wonderful care.
