Frances M. Koenig

Frances “Fran” Koenig, 65, of Marshfield passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones following a brief illness on November 17th, 2022. Fran was the sixth child of eight born to the late Robert and Carol Koenig on January 17th,1957 and was a 1975 graduate of Columbus High School.

Fran’s love for animals included her feathered friends (whom she always made sure were generously-fed, especially during the winter months) and her beloved and adopted dogs- Puppy, Brutus, Lucky, Twinkles and Sabian (pictured). Fran’s loving bond with her canine companions was evident to all as they would often be seen together while out walking- without a leash, but always side-by-side.

Family members and loved ones could always anticipate both a good laugh and joke from Fran, along with her annual acknowledgement of their birthday via a humorous card.

In addition to birthdays, Fran especially loved the Holiday Season. She always looked forward to the arrival of her sibling’s, nieces and nephews and extended family at the Koenig home throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas, while making sure that there was plenty of her renowned (and addictive) Chex Mix on hand for all to enjoy.

Fran is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Carol Koenig of Marshfield and is survived by her siblings: James Koenig- Marshfield, Steven (Julie) Koenig- West Union, S.C., Charles (Liz) Koenig- Marshfield, Paul (Debbie) Koenig- Aledo, TX, Nori Koenig (Al Engelbert)- Evansville, WI, Joan (Paul Johnson)- Sun Prairie, WI, Joseph Koenig (Peggy)- Oregon, WI along with numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and extended family.

The Family wishes to extend their appreciation and thanks to Three Oaks Health Services and the Marshfield Medical Center for the care they have provided for Fran in recent years.

A memorial has been established in Fran’s name for The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter 3500 Downwind Dr, Marshfield, WI 54449 715-486-5140 https://www.marshfieldpetshelter.org/donate

Fran was much-loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
