Fred C. Griswold, age 89, passed away peacefully with family at his side, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Pittsville Community Center, Pittsville, Wisconsin, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pittsville. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting.
Fred was born on May 31, 1935, in Pittsville, the son of Harold and Genevieve (Hodgson) Griswold. He married Elaine E. Krisher on January 30, 1971, in Medford, Wisconsin. They were married for 50 years until she passed away on June 3, 2021.
Fred and Elaine farmed in the Town of Cary, Wood County where they also owned and operated Griswold’s Fabric Shop, and later Griswold’s Resale Shop. After retirement Fred was employed at Menard’s in Marshfield, where he enjoyed interaction with people. In addition to his love for people, Fred enjoyed gardening and camping. He made his choice as a young man to serve the Lord and remained true to that commitment all through his life.
He is survived by twin daughters, Jane (Sydney) Behm of Cambria, WI and Janice (Rick) Robinson of Chilton, WI, and four grandchildren, Brendan Robinson of Kiel, WI and Michael Robinson, of Chandler AZ, and Samuel and Sarah Behm, both of Cambria, WI. He is further survived by a brother, Art Griswold of Appleton and two sisters, Ruth (Robert) Schmidt of Oconomowoc and Mary (John) Schulz of Pittsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Eleanor Newman and Alice Schmidt, and a brother, Ralph Griswold.
