Eugene was born April 27, 1929 in Marshfield to Thomas and Mary (Ott) Weiler. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School grades one through ten, and graduated from Auburndale High School in Auburndale. He married Rita Mae Ashbeck on May 12, 1952 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church Blenker, Wisconsin.

Eugene was a devoted son and brother, loving husband, proud father, grandfather, and great friend. He radiated positivity and was always willing to lend a hand. He adored his wife and family, never missed his morning coffee, newspaper, and loved to travel. Eugene and Rita renewed their wedding vows in the Diocese of La Crosse in La Crosse, WI on May 11, 2002, and took a special trip to Hawaii to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Eugene was always extremely active. He loved to fish and hunt, especially with his family, friends, and card club members. He enjoyed tending to his yard (which was perfectly kempt) making sure the birds were fed, and all of the visiting dogs and cats had a great place to play. Eugene took pride in having a comfortable place for family and friends to gather.

Eugene was engaged in the community as a faithful member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery Committee and the Knights of Columbus Council 4646 of Junction City. He was famous for peeling the potatoes for Friday night fish fries at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Eugene was a dairy farmer who took over the family farm from his father. Eugene and Rita took care of Eugene’s father until his death. Eugene retired in 1992 passing the family farm onto his son Mark.  Eugene had the opportunity to work with his wife and his children.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rita, and their children Gene (Peg) Weiler of Chippewa Falls, Kay (Pat) Stashek of WI Rapids, Mark Weiler of Auburndale, Brian (Carol) Weiler of Winneconne, Jayne (Tom) Eckes of Hewitt, and Todd (Kathy) Weiler of WI Rapids. He is furthered survived by 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, sister-in law’s Sylvia Weiler, Helen Vruwink, and Mary (Lief) Erickson. Eugene was proud of all of his children and wanted all to know, “I have an amazing family, and I admire each and every one of you. Promise me you will be OK. And if you cannot live without me, then let me live on in your eyes, your mind and your acts of kindness. Through the years we all will be together.”

All my love,                                                                                                                    Eugene
