Gerald W. “Jerry” Specht, 89, of Marshfield, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Private family visitation and services will be held at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, where military honors will be conducted. Rev. James Weighner will officiate.
Gerald was born on January 10, 1933 in Marshfield, to Elmer and Rose (Wallner) Specht. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War serving from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He married Ardell Wallner on July 7, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield.
Jerry was employed at Roddis Plywood, which later became Weyerhaeuser Corporation, for 36 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, stamp collecting and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 65 wonderful years, Ardell and their children, Scott (Becky) Specht of North Andover, MA and Cindy (Marty) Draxler of Marshfield. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alicia (Edward), Jaclyn (Michael), Alexandra (Josh), Matthew (Lia), Tiffany (Nick), Joshua, and Marissa and seven great grandchildren, Mia, Ava, Grayson, Adalynn, Jaxon, Cooper and Jett. He is further survived by sisters, Sandra Rieth of Marshfield, Sue (Jeff) Rank of Chili, Sally Wenzel of Spencer and Donna (Jim) Bournelis of Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Randy, a brother Ronald a sister Shirley Peters, and brothers-in-law, Bruce Rieth and Robert Wenzel.
