Gilbert Hafferman, age 80, of Edgar, peacefully went to eternal sleep at Colonial Center in Colby, WI on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
Gilbert Hafferman was born on July 13th, 1939 to Henry and Esther (Lemke) Hafferman of Gresham, WI. He graduated from Gresham High School and the University of Wisconsin Madison for a 2-year short course in Agriculture. He then went to work at Mooseheart, Batavia and Elgin Dairy Companies in IL. He served in the US Army with his post in Germany during the Vietnam War from 1963-1965.
It was at a local dance that he met and fell in love with the love of his life Diane Heath. He married Diane on August 21, 1965 in Hinckley, IL. After working with a couple dairy plants in IL, they decided to buy their own dairy farm in Edgar, WI in 1974, where they continued to actively dairy farm until 2000. He was active in wine making, making & repairing things with his hands, and collecting & restoring antique scales. Most of all, Gilbert enjoyed spending time with family and attending their sporting events.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 54 years, Diane; his 2 sons, Kurt (Kristine) Hafferman and Karl (Michelle) Hafferman; his 5 grandchildren, Alec, Kaleb, Jonathon, Jenna and Jacob Hafferman, his 4 siblings, Adeline (Gary) Jackson, Fond du Lac, WI, Adel (John) Commo, Fond du Lac, WI, Raymond (Dalene) Hafferman, Hartland, WI, and Vernon (Yvonne) Hafferman of Sussex, WI.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant siblings Robert, Maidean, Benjamin, & Aelene.
A celebration of his life will be held from 12:00-4:00pm on Saturday, September 7th, 2019, at his farm home.
