Glenn F. Spindler, 88, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield where military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866.
Glenn was born on January 14, 1934 at home in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County to Elroy and Marie (Hughes) Spindler. After graduating from high school in 1952, he joined the United States Air Force. He spent two years in Japan and one year in Korea. Upon moving back to the states, on January 14, 1957, he married Shirley Ann Parrett in Wausau.
In 1961, he was discharged from the Air Force and in 1962 he was hired to work at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base near Gwinn, MI. He retired from federal civil service in 1986 with a total of 33 years. He was also a road commissioner with the Marquette County Road Commission for 20 years and volunteer firefighter for the Forsyth Fire Department for 10 years. After residing in Gwinn for 42 years, Glenn and Shirley moved to Marshfield in 2005.
Glenn enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid reader and loved anything to do with World War II and aircraft. Glenn was a wonderful, devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley and daughter, Kimberly (Phil) Kaznowski of California. He is further survived by his siblings, Mary Lou Eggebrecht of Marshfield, Robert (Deloris) Spindler of Stratford, Diane Kleba of Marshfield, and Sandra (Ronald) Gebelein of Stratford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Spindler, and sister, Catherine “Katy” Frost.
