Hubert John Pischel was born on January 10, 1933, to Frederick and Clara Pischel in Marshfield. After growing up farming in the Marshfield/Auburndale area as the son of a German immigrant, and losing his mother to Tuberculosis at age nine, he traveled for a short time in his later teens, working in South Dakota, and Milwaukee. He came back to Marshfield where he drove semi-trucks for Klein trucking and married Joyce Prust of Marshfield, on June 7, 1952, at St. Johns Church in Marshfield. Together they raised 5 children and watched 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren grow. He supported his family while driving long haul semis for Schneider Transport from 1960 to his retirement in 1998. He and his wife lived on North Galvin Avenue throughout their retirement years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed going dancing, and roller skating with this wife, and later, boating or snowmobiling with the family, hunting, and fishing at the cabin in northern Wisconsin, and traveling across the country, elk hunting in Wyoming and fly-in fishing in Canada with his dear friends. He and his wife also spent a number of winters as “snowbirds” in Tonto Basin Arizona with close friends and traveled to Germany to see relatives there. In his later years, he enjoyed his weekly bowling league, and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and reminiscing with friends from around central Wisconsin.
Hubert is predeceased by his parents, his wife Joyce, brothers Gary and Bernard, and by his sister Margie (Zimmerman). He is survived by his sister Hilda (Jackson) of Jackson WI, Children; Betty (Pischel) and Dennis Kowalski of Mukwonago, John and Cheryl Pischel of Marshfield, Linda (Pischel) Milonczyk of Stratford, Bryan and Sandi Pischel of Marshfield, Patty (Pischel) and John Baumann of Edgar, as well as grandchildren; Jamie Frome, Kevin Kowalski, Bobbie-Jean Joecks, Joshua Schwantes, Allisa Milonczyk, Valerie Kirsch, Christopher Platz, Travis Pischel, Elizabeth Pischel, Paul Zarnke, Christopher Zarnke, and Ashley Zarnke. His 18 great grandchildren include Brooke, Jessica, Samantha, and Gregg Joecks, Kaia Kowalski, Sienna Frome, Mikayla, Brayden and Molly Schwantes, Gavin, Dillon, Kendyl and Oakley Kirsch, Trenton and Allison Platz, Kamden and Kalei Zarnke, Emily, and Kylie Zarnke.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Marshfield Medical Center Oncology and Palliative departments for the care and consideration they showed Hubert in his last months. His final days were able to be enjoyed with loving family, in a large part, from your attention.
