Jacob “Jake” Schaetz, age 83, of Hewitt, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Golden Living Center 3 Oaks in Marshfield. A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, August 12, 2019 at Hansen-Schilling (1010 E. Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield.
Jake was born July 24, 1936 the son of Carl and Martha (Seidl) Schaetz in Auburndale. On April 23, 1966 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alice Burggraf at St Johns Catholic Church in Marshfield. Jake worked at Wiskerchen Cheese as a Milk Hauler and Cheese Maker for 40 years. He also delivered the buyers guide for 25 years, 300,000 miles and never missed a delivery with his Geo Metro.
Jake enjoyed gardening, selling at the farmers market, playing bingo, playing “Guts” with family/friends and gambling at the Casino.
Survivors include his wife: Alice; his two daughters: Sandee (Pat) McGhee and Stacey (Kent Langfoss) Schaetz; a granddaughter: Kaylee (Cliff) Steponik; brother: Carl (Rose) Schaetz; sister: Rosie (Larry) Carter. He is further survived by brother-in-laws: Joe (Sandy) Burggraf, Tony Burggraf, and Ron Meyers; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparent, mother and father-in-law and sister: Mary Ann, as well as sister-in-laws: Patricia Meyers and Roesmary (Leon) Brumbaugh.
A special Thank You to Nephew Mark & Jill Meyers and their daughter’s Patricia and Molly Meyers (“Our Adopted Granddaughters”) for all the love and support. The family also wishes to thank Golden Living Center 3 Oaks, Asera Care Hospice, and St. Croix Hospice for the dedicated care and support provided to Jake.
