James Bowden, 86, Dexterville, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
At Jim’s request, there will be no visitation and family services will be held at Dexterville Cemetery at a later date. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born on December 12, 1934 in Babcock to William and Frances (Knoll) Bowden. He was educated at Babcock and Pittsville schools. He married Mary McKenney in 1955. They shared 65 years together.
Jim worked for Consolidated Paper Company in Wisconsin Rapids for 44 years. He also worked for Sullivan Cranberry Company, and he owned “Jim’s Bar” in Dexterville for six years.
He enjoyed trapping, hunting, and fishing, especially in Canada. He also loved to cut wood.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Robert (Pat) Bowden and Brian (Cheryl Johnson) Bowden, both of Dexterville, son-in-law, Robert Schroeder of Pittsville, five grandchildren, Corey (Cheryl) Bowden of Wisconsin Rapids, Cassie (Tanya) Frost of Stevens Point, Stacy (Jason) Hubler of Pittsville, Braxton Bowden of Babcock, and Katie (Josh) Braucht of Middleton, and eight great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Leach, Emily and Jake Bowden, Jack and Audrey Braucht, Natalie and Lexis Prust, and Ava and Charlie Hubler. He is further survived by three brothers, William, Elmer (Georgia), and Wally.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cindy Schroeder, brothers, Lyle, Allen, and Elton “Tony” Bowden, and sister, Sylvia.
Jim enjoyed his family very much and was devoted husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He will be missed so very much.
