Janice Mae Freeman, age 85, Marshfield, passed away with her family at her side on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at House of the Dove.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Daniel Thelen will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery Columbarium, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Janice was born on October 11, 1939, in Green Bay, the daughter of Frank and Evelyn (Berg) Maurer, and was a 1957 graduate of Columbus High School. She was united in marriage to Robert D. Freeman, her devoted husband, on April 12, 1958, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.

Jan worked at various businesses in Marshfield, but her career passion was clothing, sewing, and antiques. She co-owned The Bridal Boutique and Grandma’s Attic Antiques. Jan loved to sew and made several of her niece’s bridal dresses besides spending countless hours making drapes for her children’s homes.  She volunteered for hospice care and along with two friends, started and ran Plum Pudding fundraiser for House of the Dove which allowed them to purchase a transport car, piped-in oxygen, remodel the kitchen and install an elevator. Jan was also an avid bridge player, had a quick wit, and loved hosting family & friend gatherings. Recently, Jan said the thing she treasured most in life was having a family that loved and respected one another and enjoyed each other’s company.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bob, and their children, Rick Freeman of Chicago, IL, David (Sandy) Freeman of Marshfield, and Ann (Nick) Pedretti of Buffalo, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bobbi (Steve) Bradley, Justin Freeman, Eric (Jason) Freeman, Matthew (Christina) Freeman, Joshua (Jackie) Pedretti, Stephanie (Dan) Washam, and Thomas Pedretti, and eight great grandchildren, Madelynn Bradley, Evelynn Bradley, Hadley Freeman, Brooks Pedretti, Landyn Pedretti, Vivian Pedretti, Arvey Washam, and Margaret Washam. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Vera Keyes of Marshfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia (Alvin) Quelle, and Mildred (Al) Perner, and five of Bob’s siblings.

Memorials may be designated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Special thanks to Dr. Marian Greenburg and the staff at House of the Dove and Marshfield Medical Center, who took such good care of Jan this past year.
