Obituary for Jeanette Claybaugh

Jeanette “Jean” Claybaugh, age 99, of Marshfield, died on Monday December 9, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care, in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1310 East 8th. Street Marshfield, on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour before the time of service at the church on Friday.

Jean was born on March 30, 1920 in Marshfield to Edward and Angeline (Benter) Faber. Jean worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL and then moved back to Marshfield. She was the manager of the Montgomery Ward Store in Marshfield and then as a ward clerk at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she met her husband; Reverend Ralph Claybaugh. They were married on June 16, 1973 at the United Church of Christ in Nekoosa. Ralph and Jean served at the churches in Owen, Nekoosa and Elcho.

Jean enjoyed flowers, feeding her birds, knitting, reading and crossword puzzles. She also loved her Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Ann (LaVern) Itzen of Pittsville, Stepson David Claybaugh of Monroe, WI, Grandchildren, Jeff (Sheila) Itzen of Hayward, WI, Jeanne (Steve) Loken of Marshfield, Julie (Tim) Freeck of Marshfield, Loren York of Greenville, SC and Tom LaVack of Milwaukee, WI; Great-grandchildren, Jessica Itzen, Nike Itzen, Marlee Freeck, Ashley LaVack, Emily LaVack, Jake LaVack, and Hayley LaVack; two Great-great grandchildren, Benjamin Itzen and Lincoln Adler; three sisters, Grace Kubs, Bernice Welch and Betty Trudeau, and a brother Bob Faber.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, a son John York, a grandson, Daniel Itzen, a sister Ruth Kubs and a brother Russell Faber.

The family of Jean would like to extend a special thank you to Atrium Post Acute Care for their loving and kind care and also Heartland Hospice Care. “You all were Amazing.”
