John W. Carlson Jr., 80, Arpin, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburndale with visitation from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Murali Anand Rayappan will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
John was born on August 3, 1942 in Arpin to John and Monica (Mayer) Carlson. He was united in marriage to Judith Ivacic on May 30, 1964. John worked for 42 years at Marshfield Homes from 1963-2005. He worked as a truck driver for 25 years and the rest of his time in the plant.
John enjoyed hunting, talking about hunting, woodworking, building bird houses, bird feeders and picture frames, driving his John Deere tractor, and planting his food plots. He loved spending time with his family and raising three wonderful children with his loving wife. John was a member of Whitetails Unlimited and Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, sons, Tim (Deb) Carlson of Marshfield, Dan (Tami) Carlson of Portage, daughter, Laurie (Todd) Giraud of Sparta, 5 grandchildren, Zac (Lauren) Carlson, Libby (Erik) Morrow, Logan Carlson, Keyera Carlson, and Jaden (Dustin) Christner, 2 great grandchildren, Elle and Simon. He is further survived by siblings, Jim Carlson of Pittsville, Ron (Kathy) Carlson of Pittsville, Gary (Cathy) Carlson of Auburndale, Dave (Sue) Carlson of Marshfield, Bob (Rosie) Carlson of Arpin, Ed (Lois) Carlson of Marshfield, Caroline (Kenny) Wunrow of Marshfield, Jenny (Pat) Halpin of Loyal, Bonnie (Lyle) Ress of Marshfield, Tammy Carlson (Ron Rizzi) of Spencer and Scott Carlson of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Monica Carlson, and sisters, Bertha Carlson, Lillian Bredl, Shirley Tobin, and Kathleen Feirer.
