Joy Marianne Treutel (nee Spindler) of Mosinee died peacefully at her home on July 12th, 2024. Joy was born on August 12, 1952 and was just shy of 72 years of life.

Joy attended Columbus Catholic High School and then was a beautician in her early years. She owned her own business in Stratford, Wisconsin and then worked for over 35 years at Marshfield Clinic until retiring. She spoke honestly and fondly of the connections she made with some of her coworkers there. If that’s you, you would definitely know.

Joy married John M. Treutel at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rosellville, WI on May 11, 1973. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in May.

Joy was known for her green thumb. She was passionate about her hosta-filled yard and abundant flowering plants and enjoyed a fierce competition with her sisters and their gardens. A skill she passed to her daughters. She attracted hundreds of hummingbirds to her yard each summer. Joy was an excellent cook and baker and had mastered her mother’s pie crust recipe as well as her mother-in-law’s Thanksgiving dressing recipe. She was a fan of slot machines and rip tickets and had fun sharing those with her grandchildren. She was proud to host family gatherings and was known for her generous gifts.

In addition to her husband, Joy is survived by her 3 children: Jill (Josh) Patterson and their 2 sons Colton and Marshall of Stoughton, WI; Jamie (John) Healy of Madison, WI and their daughter Kenzie, and John (Sarah) Treutel and their children John, Paige, and Hailey of Stratford.

She is also survived by her 5 siblings: Joan (Dean) Keding of Stratford, WI; Julene (Lonnie) Rohrer of Cochrane, WI; Bev Guensburg; Dan (Kim) Spindler of Athens, WI; and Dennis (Carla) Spindler of Stratford; sisters in law Paulette (Jack) Spindler of Stratford; Linda (Jim) Spindler of Edgar; Dianne Jacobs in Arizona and brothers in law Dick (Jeri) Kincaid; and Bill (Shawn) Treutel of Fargo, ND along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold “Bud” and Lela Spindler; three sisters: Jeannie, Janet, and Jeri; and two brothers Jack and Jim; her mother and father in law Leroy and Rita Treutel; brother in law Chuck Treutel; and sister in law Judy Treutel.

Our deepest gratitude to her daughter in law Sarah Treutel for her unending care and compassion.

The family welcomes friends to join us for a celebration of life at her home on Saturday afternoon August 24th.
