Obituary for Joyce Zinthefer

Joyce B. Zinthefer, 89, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 8, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Rev. James Weighner officiating. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield with her grandchildren, Jonathon, Amanda, Joshua, Jeffrey, Nicole, and Holly serving as pallbearers. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 7 at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time at the church on Monday. A rosary service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.

Joyce was born on December 25, 1931 in Neillsville to Jacob and Veronica (Ziglinski) Langreck. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1950. She worked at Northern Auto, Montgomery Ward, and Figi’s. She also volunteered in the office at St. John’s School. Joyce married John A. Zinthefer on June 4, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. He died on March 30, 2020.

Joyce enjoyed camping, fishing, walking, and dancing. She learned the love of dance from her mother, Veronica. Joyce was a very loving wife, mother, and grandma. She was a great example of kindness. She showed attention to every single person and always made them feel important, and this was the greatest gift she gave.

She is survived by her children, Duane (Robin) Zinthefer of Marshfield and Dawn (Randy) Thomas of Auburndale. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jonathon (Amanda) Zinthefer, Joshua (Alicia) Zinthefer, Jeffrey Zinthefer, Nicole Thomas and Holly (Jamie) Thomas-Brown, a great grandson, Finley Zinthefer, a step granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Dominic) Butillo, a stepgrandson, Sully Luepke, and 4 step great grandchildren, Alexa and Madelyn Butillo and Charlie and Eddie Vaughn. She is further survived by her brother, Delbert (La Vada) Langreck, a sister, Joan Fitzmaurice, a brother-in-law, Roman Zinthefer, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, and brother-in-law, Dale Fitzmaurice, sister-in-law, Leona Langreck.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Miranda, Emma, Becky, Joelle, and Jamie from Heartland Hospice for the excellent care.

Memorials may be designated to St. John’s Catholic Church.
