Karlene A. Luedtke, 59, Marshfield, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel Williams officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Tom, John and Jim Altmann, Jr., John, William and Herman Luedtke, Kathleen Drinka, and Krisann Mauritz. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service on Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Karlene was born on February 14, 1962, in Marshfield, to James and Geraldine (Walgenbach) Altmann, Sr. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a 1980 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She was united in marriage to James P. Luedtke on January 30, 1982, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.
When K-Mart opened, during and after high school, Karlene was employed there until its closing. She then worked at Yonkers until its closing and then began working at the Marshfield Clinic. She began there in Ambulatory Surgery and then became a patient Access Representative in the Ophthalmology Department.
Karlene loved the water, enjoying fishing and boating. She loved to cook and bake, spend time with family, and was the life of the family parties.
She is survived by her husband Jim and their son Jason (Tanalee) Luedtke of Unity and two granddaughters, Jaylee and Jazlyn. She is also survived by her parents, Jim and Geri Altmann, Sr. of Marshfield, her brothers, and sisters, John (Jan) Altmann, Thomas (Kelly) Altmann, Kathleen (Richard) Drinka, James Altmann, Jr. (Linda Heath), and Krisann (Josh) Mauritz, all of Marshfield, her husband’s brothers and sisters, Herman (Lynn) Luedtke, Jr. of Fifield, William Luedtke of Waterford, Carol (Tony) Gohde, her husband’s twin brother John (Denise) Luedtke of Spring Lake Park, MN, Daniel (Cheryl) Luedtke of Granton, Susan (Jim) Heck of Greenwood, Karen (Neal) Torkelson of Beloit, Belinda (Darrell) Strigel of Auburndale, Debbie Holz of Chippewa Falls and Louise (Steve) King of Pittsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph and Helen Altmann and Raymond and Lorraine Walgenbach, nephews, Staff Sergeant, Joseph Altmann, and Timothy Altmann, a great-nephew Boyd Altmann and her husband’s parents Herman and Ruby Luedtke and brother-in-law Kurt Luedtke.
