Kathleen Marie Steckler, age 68, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.
Kathy was born February 7, 1951, the daughter of William and Mildred (Maston) Batterton, in Norway, MI. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 1969. She earned her LPN diploma from MSTC and spent her career caring for the elderly. She was a member of the Sherry Tired Iron Club. Kathy was honored to be part of the planning committee and was hopeful she would have been able to attend her 50th high school reunion which is planned in September.
Kathy and Ken were married May 17, 2008. She often said these were the happiest years of her life. She was immensely proud of her four children: Chuck (Kimberly Russell) Meitner, Chanhassen, MN; Steve (Cassie) Meitner, Oak Ridge, TN; Kara (Iddi) Adam of Marshfield, WI; and Kelly (Brian) Rottler, Nekoosa, WI. She bragged about her twelve grandchildren to anyone and everyone who would listen. Kathy enjoyed playing games, especially cards. When not spending time with her family, she enjoyed visiting with her numerous friends and sewing. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to have been in 49 states (all but Hawaii), Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Africa. Kathy was a diehard Hodag fan, going every year for the past 13 years. It was something she looked forward to every summer.
Kathy is survived by three brothers: Charles Meyer of Moline, IL; Jim (Clara) Batterton, Pekin, IL; Gale (Candy) Batterton, Marshfield, WI; and two sisters: Margaret Chilcote, Sterling, IL, and Lois (Ernie) Elledge, Modesto, CA. She is predeceased by two brothers Glenn and Dale Batterton, and her first husband Carl.
A celebration of her life will be held with visitation from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway in Marshfield, WI.
