It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Trautman, aged 85, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Known far and wide for her legendary baking and cooking, Kathy could turn a simple kitchen into a haven of delicious aromas and mouth-watering treats. Her pies were the stuff of legends, and she always turned the simplest of meals into a banquet.
Kathy was a proud survivor of cancer, showing incredible strength and resilience throughout her life. She was married to Jack Sr., for 57 wonderful years, a partnership filled with love, robust banter, and countless cherished moments. Together, they raised four children who were the light of her life as evident by the poster size portraits of each she proudly hung in her living room.
She took joy in attending her grandchildren’s extracurricular events. Whether it was cheering at football and softball games, supporting wrestling matches, or applauding at school plays, Kathy was always the loudest and proudest in the crowd. Her grandchildren knew no matter how far it was she would be there to support them. One of her greatest delights was her great-granddaughter, Willow, who inherited her feisty spirit.
A lover of simple pleasures, Kathy adored her hobby farm and found peace in the rhythm of hanging laundry out on the line, where she claimed the fresh air added a special touch to the clothes. Kathy also had a special talent for turning a simple phone call into an hour’s long conversation. She loved to chat with friends and family, sharing stories, laughter, and the latest news. Her phone calls were a source of joy and connection, and she had a knack for being the first to know all the gossip even from miles away.
Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the secrets to the perfect Danish Layer cake. She will be deeply missed by her husband Jack Sr., her four children, her grandchildren, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched and in the recipes she perfected.
Rest in peace, Kathleen. May your heavenly kitchen be filled with endless ingredients and your laughter echo through the clouds.
