Kay Mildred Decker, 84, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, passed away on May 13, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Dale, sister Anne, brother Harry, and half-sister Vivian. She is survived by son Kurt von Besser of Marshfield, WI, daughters Kristin [Ed] McCarthy of Park Ridge, IL, Katie Decker of Houston, TX, and Jona Decker of Madison, WI; grandchildren Elizabeth and Keith McCarthy of Park Ridge, IL; and brothers Keene and Vern Warren and sister Merle Mewing.
She was born and raised in Merrill, WI, and attended college at the Univerity of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. After moving to Marshfield, WI, in 1970, she was active in the community as a 45+ year member and worker within her church, East Gate Alliance Church, and their Awana youth group. She was an energetic force in Wood County 4-H program leadership and a long-time leader of the Richfield 4-H club. In her later years, she delighted in becoming part of Marshfield’s Red Hat Society.
She was a lover of all things bear-related, sunflowers, and decorating–indoors and out–for every season and holiday.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Marshfield Health Services nursing and facilities staff and Heartland Hospice.
We are in the process of arranging her celebration of life and will announce those details soon.
