Kenneth P. Leick, 88, Stratford, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Stoney River Memory Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford. The visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. There will be a rosary service at 4:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born on April 5, 1934, in Stratford, to Archie and Jennie (Knops) Leick. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he went to British Honduras and served as a missionary for three years. After his return home to Stratford, he farmed in the Town of Cleveland until his retirement in 1996.
He married Mary D. Altmann on July 6, 1968, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford.
Ken was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and choir and provided home visits to parishioners. He was a faithful Hospice volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He enjoyed gardening, walking, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Mary and their children, Janice Leick of Tomahawk, Bonnie (Douglas O’Leary) Leick of Sister Bay, Dan Leick of Stratford, Tom Leick of Marshfield, Lisa Leick of Grafton and Dave Leick of Stratford. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jacob Leick, Joshua Leick, Ryan O’Leary and Connor O’Leary. He is further survived by sisters, Lucille Leick of Marshfield, MaryAnne Schreiner of Wausau and a brother Orville (Rosanne) Leick of Wausau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard (Margaret) Leick, and a sister Dorothy (Louis) Kraus and a brother-in-law Francis Schreiner.
