Kenneth W. Wry, 85, Marshfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at A Touch of Home Assisted Living.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield, at a later date. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the service. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Kenneth was born on June 14, 1937, in Stanley, Wisconsin, to Cecil and Genevieve (Baker) Wry, and was a 1955 graduate of Gilman High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa for a time, serving from May 8, 1956, until his honorable discharge on November 7, 1960. Ken also served in the National Guard. After leaving the military, he worked at American Motors in Janesville, until he moved to Marshfield.
He married Geraldine M. Jantz on December 7, 1968. They were married almost 50 years. Geri passed away on June 6, 2018.
Ken managed the Village Plaza in Spencer, was employed at Rollohome, and then worked as a custodian for Marshfield Public School System from 1982 until his retirement in 2009.
Ken enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers and nephews and fishing at the cabin in Phillips.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Kim (Scott) Landwehr of Stratford and a step daughter-in-law, Jean Jantz of River Falls. He is further survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Jodi (Chris) Branum of Houlton and their children, Annamarie and Nicholas; Tara (Les) Kattre of Woodville and their children, Susan and Jeffry; Jordan (Ashley) Landwehr of Chili; and Kassidy and Jarrett Landwehr of Stratford. He is further survived by brothers and sisters, Ronald (Andrea Sue) Wry, Dorothy (Charles) Birkenholz, Kathleen Cassata, Barbara (Gary) Boor, Margaret (Ted) Thorgerson, Gary Wry and Beverly (Duane) Madlon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Geri, a stepson, Paul Jantz, a brother, Lawrence in infancy and brothers, Galen and Bruce Wry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the House of the Dove.
