Obituary for LeRoy Stroetz

LeRoy H. Stroetz, 84, Marshfield, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Three Oaks Health Services, Marshfield under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

LeRoy was born on December 12, 1939, in Marshfield to Harry and Wilma (Sersch) Stroetz. He married Annette Laidlaw on November 7, 1959, and they had four children together. They later divorced. He then married Lynette Gebelien and they later divorced.

LeRoy worked at Karau’s Supermarket as a young man and then started working at Rollohome for a number of years and then worked at Wisconsin Homes until retirement.

His greatest joy was the cabin up north on Lake Nokomis. The stories that were told around the campfire. He also loved the Badlands and Devil’s Tower.

He is survived by his children, Pam (Kevin) Dahl of Spearfish, SD, Dan (Carolyn) Stroetz of Stratford, Brian (Chris) Stroetz of Stratford, Sue Gustke (Rich Boynton) of Necedah, stepdaughter Shelley (Walter) Kress of Stratford, stepson, Josh Ress, eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Berdie Stroetz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Dorothy (John) Zepplin, William Stroetz, Robert (Esther) Stroetz, Donald (Jane) Stroetz, Bernadine Stroetz, Caroline (James) Aldrich, son-in-law, Bernie Gustke, stepson, Todd Ress, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Luther School.

The family would like to give special thanks to Jennifer, Britta, Karisa, and the rest of the staff at St. Croix Hospice.
