Lila Nelson, 95, Marshfield, died on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Stoney River Memory Care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Rembs Funeral Home where visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Dan Schoessow will officiate. The service will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Entombment beside her beloved husband of 59 years will follow at Hillside Cemetery Mausoleum, Marshfield, with Everett, Kenneth, Lavern, Gene, Erlin, and Raymond Roehl serving as pallbearers.
Lila was born on October 3, 1925, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Ackerman) Roehl. She attended the Cozy Corner School in the Town of Fremont for 8 years and Granton High School for 2 years.
On May 22, 1948, the former Lila Roehl was united in marriage to her ever-loving husband Gerald Nelson at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. After marriage, the couple farmed 2 years at Veefkind and 12 years in the Chili area. They later moved to Spencer where Gerald managed the lumberyard for 20 years and Lila worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for 25 years. She retired in 1989. Gerald died on April 20, 2007.
Lila enjoyed a few trips to Nashville and camping at the Hodag for country music. She also liked eating out, playing cards, doing crafts, and having parties. She was a member of Christ Lutheran in Chili all her life.
She is survived by her close friends, Ray and Margie Lawrence, and Marian Jahr, sisters-in-law, Carol Harrimon and Marion Nelson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ever-loving husband of 59 years, Gerald, her brothers, Glenn (Naomi) Roehl, Alvin (Evelyn) Roehl, Russell (Frieda) Roehl, Walter (Verna) Roehl, Harvey (Marie) Roehl, Delma Roehl, Carl Roehl, Leo (Verna) Roehl, and sisters, Vera Carstensen and Evelyn Roehl.
Her friends and family would like to extend a special thanks to Sarah Krenn, Liz Richards, the staffs at Stoney River Assisted Living, Stoney River Memory Care, and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care.
Memorials may be designated in Lila’s name to Christ Lutheran Church in Chili.
