It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lorraine Mae (Voigt) Rogers, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who left us on January 25, 2025, at the age of 80.

Lorraine was born in Marshfield in 1944 to Earl & Joyce Voigt. She married James F. Rogers in 1967 and together raised two daughters, Mary Kay (Allen) Severin and Becky (Dave) Roberts. Lorraine was an experiencer of life and shared that with her kids by participating with them in travel, kitchen creations, dance, photography, piano lessons, vocal performance and her many artistic pursuits.

For her family, Lorraine served as the ultimate tour & travel guide, leading her family on dozens of exploratory camping trips. Many spanned across the US and were four-week adventures. She mostly enjoyed the vastness of the skies and oceans, but was perhaps most proud to have visited all 50 states.

When asked about her occupation, Lorraine would say she was an artist. While she worked in retail, at a florist shop, or a doctor’s office, she took great pride with her many talents and used those skills to joyfully provide for others. She knitted baby sweaters for World relief, helped to make quilts for hospice patience and other charities, designed and made banners for her church, the list goes on.

Gifted with the eye of an artist, she enjoyed painting, cross stitching, quilting, knitting, paper crafting and anything that piqued her interest. Storytelling is yet another art that had become the cornerstone of Lorraine’s life. Starting early with photo albums and scrapbooks for her kids, it was always top of mind to write and tell people’s stories. This rolled into her love of history and genealogy, which is something her family will always remember about her. She was happiest when serving as a collector of her family’s past and vowed that everyone has their own story to tell. She chronicled family stories with great pride, connecting current family to the boat her ancestors came over from England. We’ll always imagine hearing Lorraine say “write it down” just one more time. Further, she was an avid reader and would regularly get lost in historical fiction novels.

Lorraine was victorious of cancer and personal strife and was always grateful for the daily gifts of sunshine and people in her life.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Joyce Voigt, Marshfield; her brother, Victor Voigt, Marshfield; her husband, James Rogers, Wisconsin Rapids; her daughter & son-in-law, Mary Kay & Allen Severin, West Plains, MO; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Lorraine is survived by her sister, Karen Voigt, Marshfield; her daughter & son-in-law, Becky & David Roberts, Arlington; her grandson, Arron Severin, Marshfield; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, as she considered them all family.

To celebrate the life of Lorraine, please join us for visitation at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield at 9 am on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025. A service will begin at 11 am with a lunch to follow. The family will have a private burial service at Lorraine’s final resting place, Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
