Obituary for Marie A. Schneider

Marie A. Schneider, 85, Hewitt, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at House of the Dove, Marshfield, after a courageous battle with ALS. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 13, 2023, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hewitt, with Rev. Murali Anand Rayappan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Cassey Poeschel, John Schneider, Tina Osadchuk, Timmy Braunsky, Lynn Braunsky and Amanda Hilgart. A visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield and from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at St. Michael’s Church. A rosary service will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. 

Marie was born on June 3, 1937, in Rozellville, to Alois and Agnes (Brock) Wilhelm. She attended schools in Rozellville and Marshfield. She was united in marriage to Leon J. Schneider on June 6, 1956, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville. He died on May 29, 1921. 

Marie was employed in housekeeping at various Marshfield hotels and last was employed in Environmental Services at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. 

Marie enjoyed visits from family, cooking and entertaining at family get-togethers. She kept the family together, very loving, giving and always there for her family. She liked playing BINGO and word search puzzles. 

She is survived by her children, Mike (Pam) Schneider of Hewitt, Karen (Scott) Johnson of Stratford, Kathy (Billy) Braunsky of Marshfield, Jane (Jeff) Martyn of Stratford and Judy (Duane) Clark of Bancroft. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cassey Poeschel, Tim Braunsky, Lynn Braunsky, Justin Poeschel, John Schneider, Tina Osadchuk, and Amanda Hilgart, and four great grandchildren, Haley, Madison and Blake Hilgart and Lou Osadchuk. She is further survived by sisters, Joyce (Dave) Haag of DeForest and Shirley (Jim) Reel of Wausau. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Raymond, Richard, Vincent, Norman, Sylvester, Eugene and Alois Wilhelm. 

The family would like to thank Vita Care, Stratford, and the staff of Compassus Hospice and House of the Dove for their kind and compassionate care. 

She will be greatly missed.
