Mark “Doc” Bailey, 72, Pittsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Mark was born on March 22, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of George Kopacz and Marion Carlson.
To some, just a name; to others, a prankster, chef, welder, carpenter, Jack-of-all-trades, a Husband, Father, and a Grandfather. He was everything and more you’d want in a daddy.
He did have a small competitive side, so of course, he’d have to be the first to reach the pearly gates. Everything was a race, quoting his words, “I beat,” at the end of one of his many home-cooked family dinners.
He had many passions and the one he took seriously was gardening. Spending endless hours perfecting every row and canning the fruits of his labor for any of us kids to grab after a visit. He perfected beef jerky and loved to hand it out to many, as he enjoyed sharing his talent. He had a gift and considered it an art as he single-handedly turned a stainless steel fridge into a smoker, creating the most mouthwatering foods for many. His passion for hunting and fishing will continue through his children and grandchildren, as he only told a select few where the honey holes were.
Retirement enabled him to embrace his passions and spend more time with his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and his most beloved four-legged buddy, Totee, whom he adored and cherished very much.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Bailey; a son, Dan Bailey; a daughter, Jamey Bailey; three grandchildren: Alex Block, Brody Block, and Gracey Block; and a brother, Keith Peterson. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Marion Peterson; Father, George Kopacz; Sister, Diane Hewitt; and a brother, Kurt Peterson. He was the foundation of our family and will be missed dearly.
