Mark William Reigel, 59, passed away on February 28, 2025, in League City, Texas. Born on July 17, 1965, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, Mark lived a life dedicated to learning, teaching, and cherishing time with his family.
Mark’s educational journey began at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and continued at St. Lawrence Seminary High School. His passion for knowledge led him to earn a certification in HVAC from Dunwoody College of Technology before pursuing higher education. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and History from Viterbo University. Marke also attended Oklahoma State University where he was a teaching assistant. Later he earned a master’s degree in history from Arizona State University.
Mark started his professional career working in the family business at Reigel Plumbing, Heating & Cooling in the HVAC division and Ace Hardware store. However, his love for education ultimately guided him toward teaching. He spent his entire teaching career as a middle school social studies teacher at Columbus Catholic Schools. Beyond the classroom, he was deeply involved in extracurricular activities—coaching Pee Wee football, directing drama productions, advising the yearbook staff, and coaching Brains & Brawns.
Mark had a kind heart and a deep love for his family that was evident in the way he spoke about them. He found great joy in spending time with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews after school, sharing his enthusiasm for learning with them. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones—reading books, watching movies, playing cards and board games, enjoying a cold beer, and occasionally indulging in a good cigar.
Mark is survived by his parents, William and Patricia (Wartner) Reigel; brothers Michael (Jane) Reigel of Stratford, WI, and Brian (Heidi) Reigel of League City, TX; nieces and nephews Amanda (Luke) Kraus of Mosinee, WI; Angela (Luke) Schier of Granton, WI; Alexander (Renee) Kolpanen of Marshfield, WI; Benjamin (Miranda) Reigel of Marshfield, WI; Jennifer Reigel of Somerset, WI; and Lucas Reigel of League City, TX; brother-in-law Jeffery Kolpanen of Marshfield, WI. He also leaves behind great-nieces and great-nephews William, Madeline, Bryce, Jeremy, Olivia, Oliver, Owen, Rowyn, and Peyton. Mark was preceded in death by his sister Cathryn (Reigel) Kolpanen and niece Emily Ann Reigel.
