Martha Fischer, 96, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Stoney River Assisted Living, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Dr. Laurie Brubaker Davis will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.
Martha was born on August 7, 1928 in Yonkers, NY to John and Ruth (Mallory) Arthur. After graduating, she worked as an x-ray technician where she met and eventually married Herbert K.J. Fischer on April 7, 1956. He passed away on November 11, 2007.
Martha’s greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She had a natural talent for making people feel welcome and was known for her warmth and hospitality. As an exceptional homemaker, she took pride in maintaining a spotless home and creating a nurturing environment for her loved ones. Martha enjoyed gardening, tending her roses, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, and she always made family gatherings special with three delicious meals whenever they visited. Her bond with her sister Joan was incredibly close, and she cherished their relationship. Martha was also a proud member of the PEO, reflecting her commitment to community and service.
She is survived by her son, Peter (Jane Witman, M.D.) Fischer, M.D. of De Pere and daughter, Lorie (David) Peterson of La Crosse, grandchildren, Andrew, Samuel, D.O., Helen, Alec (Andrea), and Victor, and great grandchildren, Aldon, Avelyn, and Arthur.
She is further survived by sister Joan Richmond of Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert, sister, Ruth Banker, and brother-in-law, Miles Richmond.
