Obituary for Marvin E. “Sonny” Schill

Marvin E. “Sonny” Schill, age 83, of Arpin, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Hilltop Alpine Terrace in Wisconsin Rapids.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburndale with Rev. Antony Arokiyam officiating. Committal services will take place later in the parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at the church from 10 AM until time of services. Marvin’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Marvin was born September 10, 1935 in Marshfield, the son of Edward and Margaret (Wolf) Schill. He attended Saint Mary’s Parochial School in Auburndale also working on his parent’s dairy farm. He was united in marriage to Grace Mancl in Saint Kilian’s Catholic Church in Blenker on August 30, 1955. They later divorced. On May 27, 1995 Marvin was married to Priscilla Davids in Fargo, ND. She survives. Marvin drove truck for some of the area feed mills early on, worked at local cranberry marshes and owned and operated a dairy farm.

His hobbies included rabbit and squirrel hunting, going dancing especially polka dancing, loved playing softball often kidding that he could “hit the ball where ever he wanted to” …and he could. Marvin was a tuba player for a well-known area polka band known as “The Fireman Five”.

Survivors include his wife Priscilla of 25 years of Arpin; his children: Shirley (Daniel) Vollert of Vesper, Nancy (Randy)Koplien of Milladore, Ronnie (Barbara) Schill of Auburndale, Donna (Steve) Dain of Arpin, Laurie (Raymond) Kieffer of Arpin, Lisa (Greg) Moen of Nekoosa, Mark Schill of Auburndale, Connie (Troy) Schubert of Eau Claire, Jim (Nicki) Schill of Pittsville; 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a step-son Mike (Jamie) Fitzner of Mosinee; his six step-grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; his brothers: Art (Janet) Schill of Auburndale, Albert (Franny) Schill of Marshfield, Kenneth (Nettie) Schill of Stratford, LeRoy (Cheryl) Schill of Marathon City; his sisters: Lorraine (Richard) Breu of Marshfield, Irene Kraus of Janesville, Bernice (Ronnie) McDermott of Milton and Carol (Dan) Mancl of Wisconsin Rapids along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Marlene and Amy, a son Bruce and a grandson Adam.

If desired, memorials in Marvin’s name are being accepted by his family for a charity to be determined.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Allyson Mayeux, Sandy Linzmeier, CNA, Chris and the staff at Alpine Hilltop Terrace in Wisconsin Rapids and the Staff of Aspirus Hospice for the loving care and support provided to Marvin.
