Michael J. Young passed away on November 21, 2024 at Wells Nature View surrounded by his family. The visitation will be from 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am on Monday, December 2, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield with Rev. Daniel Thelen officiating. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mike was born on May 12, 1944 to Patricia J. (Fairchild) and Charles M. Young in Superior, WI. After graduating from Cathedral High School and UW-Superior he worked as a teacher, guidance counselor, principal and superintendent in Kenosha, Stratford and Colby school districts. He retired in 2001 after 35 years as an educator. After moving to Marshfield Mike built a thriving plumbing business, Mike Young Construction which he operated for more than 35 years during the summer months.
Mike loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed making maple syrup and wine. On summer weekends you could often find him captaining his pontoon boat at the family cabin on Lake Nebagamon.
Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years Nancy (Ensworth) sons David (Rhonda) and Mark (Carolyn), daughter Michelle and granddaughter Lauren. He is further survived by his brother Thomas (Linda) and several nieces and nephews.
