Noel G. Denniston, 79, Pittsville, Passed away, with his loving family at his side, on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at House of the Dove Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hewitt, with Rev. Mark Krueger and Rev. Dean Pingel officiating. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery, Pittsville, at a later date. A gathering for family and friends will be on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hewitt.
Noel was born on December 28, 1943, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Bernhardt and Joy (Cole) Denniston. He was a graduate of Pittsville High School and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse. He married Diane R. Pelow on August 12, 1967, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittsville.
He began his teaching career in Oshkosh for two years. He then accepted a teaching and coaching position with the Pittsville Public Schools where he retired in 2002. He continued to serve as Athletic Director for four years.
Noel was a long-time member of the Pittsville Lions Club, coached football, basketball and track for many years, and taught hunter safety for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, liked to grow and pick fruit and was a wine maker for many years. He was active in church, singing in choirs and holding numerous terms of church leadership positions.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane and two sons, Mark (Lisa) Denniston of Pittsville and Daniel (Rebecca) Denniston of Marshall, WI. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Luke, Jordan, Cole and Sydney. He is further survived by a brother Neil Denniston of Wisconsin Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother David and a sister Jeannine.
