Obituary for Norbert Specht

Norbert J. Specht, 96, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield with visitation from 9:30 am until service time. Rev. Dan Thelen will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield where military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 54 – Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Norbert was born on July 26, 1927, in Marshfield to Frank and Rose (Albrecht) Specht. He left school at 17 to join the Army during World War II and served in the Philippines. Returning to Marshfield, he was employed by Felker Bros. as a patternmaker, supervisor, and inspector until his retirement. He married Rosella Beaver in Auburndale on August 28, 1948, and they recently celebrated 75 years.

An avid outdoorsman he was a mentor before it was popular and many neighbor youth learned to hunt and fish with Norb. For many years he and Rose enjoyed a cabin near Phillips. After retirement they purchased a hobby farm near Auburndale where he enjoyed his gardens and woodshop. He was a lifetime Cubs fan until the end.

He is survived by his wife, Rosella, children, Michael (Nancy) of Irma, Janice (Joseph) Zettel of Hartford, Sally (Elmer) Hoffmann of Grafton, Bob (Gayle) of Spencer, John (Kathy) of Marshfield, Rosanne Specht of Stratford, Steve (Jalaine) of Chili, Mary (Randy) Beck of Weston, Jim (Sandy) of Stratford, and Daniel Sr. (Heidi) of Auburndale. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Pete (Anette) Beaver of Milladore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Memorials can be made to St. John’s Catholic Church or the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.
