Obituary for Norma J. Gabel

Norma J. Gabel, 86, Arpin, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Our House Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.

A private service and burial will be held.

Norma was born on September 25, 1936 to Hugh and Lillian (Stigleman) Weir. She graduated from Auburndale High School. On September 28, 1956, she married Dale “Bosco” Gabel. He passed away on November 14, 2020. She worked at Social Services for 30+ years and the concession and ski rental at Powers Bluff ski hill for 44 years.

Norma enjoyed reading, volunteering at the library and church, gardening, and going to their cabin up north. She was always outside working. She was a member of the Coffee Clutch and United Church of Christ Ladies Aid in Arpin.

She is survived by children, Jodi Berdan, Brian (Sue) Gabel, Brenda (Paul) Kremer, grandchildren Seth (Jen) Berdan, Chris (Cassandra) Berdan, Kelly (Stephan) Berdan, Josh (Nicole – fiancé) Gabel, Corey (Candyce) Ertl, Colton Kremer, great-grandchildren Amelia and Ellis Berdan, and Conlan, Cash and Caden Ertl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Lillian, step father, Forrest Benway, husband, Dale, sister, Janet Nagel, and brothers, Hugh Weir, Danny Weir, and Victor Weir.
