Obituary for Orin Toltzman

Orin C. Toltzman, age 85, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, passed away on December 2, 2024.  Orin was born to William H. and Leona (Molle) Toltzman on September 15, 1939, at the family farm northeast of Loyal.  He graduated from Spencer High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.  Orin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis and was honorably discharged in 1962.  He was married to Donna M. Bush from August 7, 1965, until her death on August 6, 1970.  On February 18, 1977, Orin married Linda L. Anderson in Marshfield.

Throughout his life, Orin was involved in business and community organizations.  For nearly 50 years, he worked for Marshfield Savings Bank, now known as Forward Bank, retiring in 2005 as President and Chief Executive Officer and remaining on the Board of Directors until his death.  He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Marshfield Elks Lodge.  Over the years, he volunteered at The Highground Veteran’s Memorial.  He was a great believer in the Opportunity Development Centers and the United Way.  He participated in fundraising for the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the United Way, Rotary Club and YMCA.

In recent years, Orin enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and trying to outwit the squirrels.  He also enjoyed playing card games with family and hearings stories about hunting, fishing and his grandson Liam’s sports, especially baseball.

Orin is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Anne (Matt) Soberg; and grandson Liam.  He is further survived by his brother-in-law Tim (Sue) Anderson and their children Journey and Destiny; and his nephew Kent (Krista) Below and their children Kayelynn and Kenzie.  Orin was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Lawrence Below; and parents-in-law, Aaron and Elsie Anderson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, Wisconsin, with visitation two hours prior. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 54 Marshfield at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
