Patricia J. Tietyen, age 81, Stratford, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Safe Haven Senior Care.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford where a gathering for family and friends will be from 10:30 am until service time. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Rev. Amy Heinz will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Highway 97, Stratford. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Patricia was born on September 15, 1942, in Newton, Illinois, to Orvel and Helen (Ervin) Cummins. She was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where she earned her master’s degree in education. She taught at Paxton, Paris, and Thomasboro, IL. Then at Eau Claire and Stevens Point Lastly, she was employed for the Marshfield School District where she taught at Lincoln and Grant elementary schools until her retirement in 2001.
She married O.R. Keith Jones and they divorced. She later was united in marriage to Leon K. Tietyen on January 8, 1983.
Pat enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, camping and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Leon, her daughter, Heather M. Jones (Jef Schnitzler) of Stratford and stepchildren, Monique Tietyen-Mlengana of Milwaukee and Adam (Leah) Tietyen of Mequon. She is also survived by grandchildren, Megan (Adam) (Rasmussen) Boldig and Kyle (Stephanie) Rasmussen, step grandchildren, Zack Tietyen, Cole Tietyen and Gabrielle Tietyen-Mlengana and great grandchildren, Benjamin, Everett, Holdan, and twins, Jack and John Boldig, and Elliot, Colin and Jaxon Rasmussen. She is further survived by a brother, Richard (Linda) Cummins and a sister, Linda S. Cummins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a stepson, Grant Tietyen, and a sister, Sherry Cummins in childhood.
