Patrick T. Brayer

Patrick T. Brayer, 57, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at his home.

Patrick was born on November 5, 1963, in Marshfield, to John A. and Irma (Redig) Brayer.  He attended Marshfield Catholic schools, graduating in 1981 from Marshfield Columbus.  Patrick held several different jobs during his lifetime, many in retailing, but his greatest and most selfless job was taking care of his mother Irma for most of her last years as she gracefully endured the effects of Alzheimer’s.  Patrick went to great effort to make sure Irma was as active and socially involved as possible during that time.

Patrick maintained numerous friendships during his many years in Marshfield.  He had a very outgoing personality and loved to be with people of all backgrounds and ages.  He especially enjoyed his many years of volunteer work with the Knights of Columbus as well as Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Throughout his years, Patrick always made time for his Lord and Savior and placed his trust in Him.

He also enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards, and, most of all, spending cherished time with family.  He was an avid fan of all the major Wisconsin sports teams.  He adored his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald (Patricia) Brayer of Northbrook, IL, Paul (Barbara) Brayer of Mukwonago, WI, Mary (Gary) Bodden of De Forest, WI, Mark (Joan) Brayer of Janesville, WI, Jane (Michael) Kearney of Mankato, MN, and Steven (Rene) Brayer of Riverside, RI as well as brother-in-law James Howe and sister-in-law Cathy Brayer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He maintained a deep and special bond with his aunt, Sr. Marie Regine Redig of Elm Grove, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rita Howe, a brother, James Brayer, and a nephew, Andrew Howe.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.

Memorial donations in his name can be sent to Columbus High School, St. Vincent de Paul, Marshfield or The American Heart Association.
