Peter J. Dietel, 67, passed away with family at his side on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022 at his home in the Town of Marshfield, Wood County.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Daniel Williams will officiate. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes.
Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866. at St. John’s following the service. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Peter John Dietel was born on February 23, 1955 in Marshfield, to Paul Andrew and Ellen Ruth (Mackowey) Dietel and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He served in the United States Army from 1975 until his honorable discharge in 1978. After returning to Marshfield he attended Mid State Technical College and obtained an Associate Degree in Electronics in 1986. He had a long career working as an electrician and then as a journeyman electrician.
He married Sheila M. Hannum on June 6, 1975 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield.
As an accomplished craftsman, Pete could fix just about anything and enjoyed using his talents to help others. He enjoyed traveling and camping with family. As a history buff he enjoyed lots of museums (just ask the kids) and classic cars. Pete was a genuine soul, and he will be missed greatly every day.
He is survived by his wife Sheila and their children, Jeremiah (Elaine) Dietel of Eldridge, Iowa, Jessica (Timothy) Davis of Evansville, Dustin (Melissa) Dietel of Milladore and Sergio (Sarah) Dietel of Farmington, Utah. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kennedy Dietel, Reagan Dietel, Dante Dietel, Hazel Davis, Francis Davis and Elias Thornton. He is further survived by a sister Marilyn (Douglas) Bolen and a brother David (Robin) Dietel, all of Stratford.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joshua, his parents, a sister Theresa at birth, and a brother Daniel.
