Obituary for Ray Lang

Raymond J. Lang, 80, Rozellville, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 16, 2022, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at St. Andrew’s Church. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes.

Raymond was born on October 22, 1942, in Marshfield, to George S. and Marie H. (Kelnhofer) Lang. He attended St. Kilian’s Parochial School, Blenker and was a 1960 graduate of Assumption High School, Wisconsin Rapids. He married Ruth K. Spindler on April 20, 1968, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville.

After his education Ray worked at the cheese factory in Sherry and at Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids. He then settled into farming in the Town of Sherry with his father and then two of his brothers. In 1981 he began working at Spindler Feed Mill in Rozellville for 15 years until becoming employed at Prince Corporation in Marshfield until his retirement in 2007.

Ray was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church where he served as a lector and eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council, Marshfield, was a member and leader of the Rozellville Lions Club, the Sherry Volunteer Fire Department, the Town of Day Sewer District, and an election official. He and Ruthie bowled many years and coached local youth for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruthie and their children, Donna (Kevin) Gilbertson of Hewitt, Julie (Jeff) Stueber of Stratford, Bobby (Linda) Lang of Marshfield and Joann (Steve) Bangart of Auburndale. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Lauren Gilbertson (Abe Mounir), Christian Hains, Erin (fiance – Hunter Reiff) Stueber, Jacob Gilbertson, Logan Stueber, Quincy Lang, Bennett Lang, Adam Gilbertson, and Brayden Bangart and an honorary grandson Leonardo Franzese. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Teri Nikolai, Mae (Julius) Linzmeier, Sally (Don) Furo, Joyce Lobner, Dick (Rose) Lang, Anne (Mark) Junemann, George (Doreen) Lang, Carol (Doug) Kohlbeck, Karen Wallner, and Brian (Karen) Lang and brothers and sisters-in-law, Elaine Spindler, Jerry (Carol) Spindler, Butch (Rae) Spindler and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Marie Lang, his parents-in-law Edwin and Appy Spindler, brothers-in-law Dale Lobner, Craig Wallner, Frances Nikolai, Dale Spindler and a nephew Mark Linzmeier.

The family will designate a memorial in Ray’s name at a later date.
