Obituary for Raymond Newmier

Raymond E. Newmier, 103 1/2, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield where visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hewitt and serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Weigel, Terry Schultz, and Mark Meyers. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ray was born on March 5, 1919 in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County to Joseph and Gertrude (Nabbefeld) Newmier. He attended Marathon Pride School in the Town of Eau Pleine. He married Odele Herman on February 5, 1940 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. She passed away on December 12, 1974. He married Magdalene (Kaiser) Weiland on October 7, 1983 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Ray was very creative and known for all of his unique inventions. He also loved tractors. Ray was the owner of Central Sales and Services. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts and was a Scout Master for Troop 690 – Hewitt. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie, children, Yvonne Weisner of Washington, Shirley (Harry) Gust of Marshfield, Karen Draxler of Hewitt, Diana Newmier of Connecticut, daughters-in-law, Gloria Newmier and Mary Jo Newmier, stepchildren, Christine Weiland and Daniel (Barbara) Weiland, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Odele, sons, James Newmier and Steve Newmier, brother, Norbert “Buddy” Newmier, and sister, Marian Newmier.
