Richard M. Hoffman, 86, Sherry, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Auburndale, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Mark Lundgren will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Town of Sherry, and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City is assisting the family.
Richard was born on July 23, 1936 in the Town of Sherry, Wood County, to Michael and Catherine (Pongratz) Hoffman. He attended St. Kilian’s Parochial School, Blenker and was a 1955 Graduate of Auburndale High School. He married Marion “Tootie” Hetze on July 19, 1955 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Milladore. After his marriage, Richard began employment with Georgia Pacific / Nekoosa Papers. In addition, he worked for the Redevelopment Authority in Wisconsin Rapids and in 1973 began farming, all while continuing to work at Nekoosa Papers.
Richard liked listening to polka music and played both piano accordion and button key accordion. He very much enjoyed daily trips to Swetz’s, telling jokes, traveling, trips to Canada, fishing and hunting. He was a devoted family man and a very loving and caring father.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Tootie, and their children, Peter (Diane) Hoffman of Milladore, Audrey Revling of Junction City, Ron (Deb) Hoffman of Sherry, Linda (Tom) Becker of Sherry, Tina (Nick) Haas of Wisconsin Rapids, Beverly Hoffman of Sherry and Donnie (Amy) Hoffman of Milladore. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Delores Hoffman, Milly Hoffman and Donna Bluhm and brothers-in-law, Donnie Hetze, Jim Hetze, Sr. and Mike (Lori) Hetze.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gary Hoffman, a grandson Dustin Hoffman, a great grandson Tyson Hoffman, brothers, Peter, Sylvester, Eddie, Herb, George, Leonard and Joe Hoffman, sisters, Margaret Mancl, Marie Tubbs, and Anna Polster.
The family thanks all the staff at Marshfield Medical Center who were involved with Richard’s care.
