Rita H. Knetter, 94, Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Wisconsin Rapids Health Services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Rev. James Weighner officiating. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Wednesday at the church.
Rita was born on July 11, 1927 in Marshfield to Bert and Mary (Weigel) Zinthefer. She graduated from Marshfield High School. Rita worked at Hefko Floral and JN Weigel Beverage. She married Stanley Knetter Sr. on October 25, 1950 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield. He died on September 17, 1997.
Rita enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, embroidery, canning, listening to polka music, and making homemade quilts for her kids and grandkids. She also loved baking sweet breads and cookies, spending time with her grandkids, and gathering with her family for Sunday breakfast. She was a member of the St. John’s PCCW and volunteered in the kitchen. She also volunteered with St. Joseph’s Hospital hospice program.
She is survived by her son Stanley J. (Sandi) Knetter Jr. of Marshfield, daughters Diane (Robert) Gollonik of Plover and Mary Fredrick (Steve Breu) of Auburndale, daughter-in-law Linda Knetter of Marshfield, grandchildren Christopher (Kristy) Fredrick, Ben (Ashley) Fredrick, Erik (Liz Miller) Fredrick, Joe (Erin) Knetter, and Rebecca Knetter, and great grandchildren Keegan and Kaylee Fredrick. She is also survived by her brother Roman Zinthefer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Ronald, Eugene and Jerald “Jerry” Knetter, sister Lucille Zinthefer, brother John Zinthefer, son-in-law Alan Hart, and daughter-in-law Gina Knetter.
Memorials may be designated to St. John’s Catholic Church and Heartland Hospice.
