Robert R. Stotmeister, age 83, of Stratford, passed away peacefully with family at his bedside on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Atrium of Marshfield

His memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford with Pastor Sue Eidahl officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Monday from 9 AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Greg Heiden, Tony Heiden, Amy Bell, Nikki Heiden, Michael Day, Kristopher Kloos, Trisha Kloos, Brittany Mora, Adam Stotmeister and Chelsea Shankland. His honorary pallbearers will be Rosalyn Stotmeister, Brooke Shankland and Keith Kloos.

A private committal will be held at a later time.

Bob was born August 15, 1935 in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County to William and Stella (Kaetterheinrich) Stotmeister. He graduated from Stratford High School. Robert was united in marriage to Eleanora “Ellie” Leoffler on July 11, 1955 in Pine City, MN. Bob and Ellie owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Cleveland. He also drove truck over the road for many years.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford.

Some of his hobbies included bowling, snowmobiling, trying his luck at one of the local casinos, and tending to his gardens. Bob was also known to play a game or two of solitaire from time to time. He enjoyed reading history novels and The National Geographic. Bob loved puttering on his woodworking projects making creations from scratch and either driving or working on his Allis Chalmers tractors.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Ellie Stotmeister of Stratford; his children: Karen (Karl) Heiden of Stratford, Ellen (John) Kjendlie of Edgerton, Steve (Pam) Stotmeister of Hudson and Lois (Chris) Shankland of Kerney, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a step grandson along with his beloved cats, Bugs and Bear, many other relatives and good friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, William and Stella; his brothers, John (Mary), Alvin (Fran), and Donald (Judy); and his beloved canine collie “Coco”.
