Roger was born on January 21, 1931 to Ollie and Genevieve (Schnock) Bushman of Vesper, Wisconsin and was a 1948 graduate of Pittsville High school.

He was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Upon return to civilian life, he worked for Central State Telephone.  He later acquired the Gambles Hardware store in Pittsville and provided merchandise until retirement in 1993.
