Obituary for Roger Kowalchyk Sr

Roger P. Kowalchyk Sr., 82, Junction City, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Wellington Place at Biron in Wisconsin Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City where visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Dr. Timothy Roser will officiate.

Roger was born on May 6, 1940 in Wisconsin Rapids to Dennis Sr. and Elizabeth (Szelagowski) Kowalchyk. He graduated from Rudolph High School in 1960. On April 16, 1966 he was united in marriage to Janice Hinterberg in West Allis.

Roger farmed from a young age with his brother Dennis. After selling the cows, he worked for the town of Carson – road grading, plowing snow, etc. He loved his job there. Roger also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, making items, and listening to polka music.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, sons, Roger (Brenda) Kowalchyk, Jr. of Norcross, GA and Brian (Kelly) Kowalchyk of Milladore, granddaughters, Shawna Czaikowski, Michelle Sparks, and Nichole Sparks, and great grandchildren, Abel, Jayden, Logan, and one on the way next June. He is further survived by his sister, Antoinette (Don) Cordes of San Luis, CO.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother, Dennis Kowalchyk, and Aunt Clara and Uncle Peter who raised him from age 14 after losing his parents.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice, Wellington Place at Biron, Mandy, Shawna, and all the workers there.
