Rosemarie “Rosie” O. Kaas, 90, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 3, 2024 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service. Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will take place in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Bakerville at a later date.

Rosie was born on August 22, 1934 in Rozellville to Peter and Rose (Andres) Weigel. Otherwise known by her hometown as “Tootie”, grew up on a farm east of Rozellville, the 2nd youngest of 7.  Her schooling started at Saint Andrews in Rozellville and finished with graduating from Marshfield High School in 1952.

She married Robert J. Kaas on September 14, 1955 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville.

Rosie worked as an executive secretary at Cooper Cheese in Marshfield, secretary/bookkeeper for Kaas Sales Inc., and in retirement worked at Fiskars and seasonally at Figi’s.

Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting (in which she is especially known for her afghans), gardening, baking (her famous krinkel), and canning (some of which she did out of necessity and some just for fun). In her later years many hours were spent putting puzzles together, going to flea markets and garage sales (where she could add to her collection of angels), completing word searches, and reading religious books until her eyes and dementia made it difficult to accomplish. She was also a member of the Red Cross.

She is survived by her children: Vivian Gamble of Spencer and her children (Kenneth Williams, Bethany Williams, Megan Gamble-Skowera and wife Hailey); Mary (predeceased) and her children (Krystal Koeshall, Samantha Bjork and husband Steven), Raymond Kaas of Oshkosh and his children (Kaitlyn and Curtis); and Russell Kaas of Marion and his children (Brandon and wife Britiny, Seth and wife Stephanie, Amanda, Bo, and Eva). She is further survived by 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, children, Ruth Ann, Kenneth Kaas and Mary Koeshall, daughter in law, Marlisa Kaas, granddaughter, Alesha Kaas, great granddaughter, Grace Kaas, and siblings, Dick (Betty) Weigel, Clarence “Scoop”, Marcella “Sally” Martin, Mildred “Millie” (Jerome) Wehe, Evelyn (Virgil) Hill, Lena (Bill) Sterzingerl, and Peter (Sara).

Rosie wasn’t one to be in the limelight, rather, she humbly worked behind the scenes caring for others. Her friends and loved ones will remember her for her quick wit, gentle disposition with occasional spurts of German stubbornness, caring soul, and generous heart. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
